Are You a Comfort Eater?

Comfort Eating is a learned behaviour and it can be “unlearned”.  Children are rewarded with treats such as fast food or cookies. If you fell and hurt yourself were you given a sweet treat to take your mind off the pain? We learned that food could make us feel good and take our mind off a problem.  No wonder then that as adults we continue to seek comfort from food!

  • Work Stress – We eat to distract ourselves from an impending deadline or problem.
  • Relationships– If things are going awry we eat to make ourselves feel better.
  • Illness – If we felt unwell as a child we were given yummy treats and still seek them out now if we are feeling poorly.

Q. Why is hypnosis an effective method for losing weight without any diet or drugs? 

A. Because hypnosis deals directly with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious directs you in all those automatic tasks such as; eating, drinking, driving, and your walk to work. Much of what we do day-to-day is done habitually. Habits can be changed, easily and safely. As a clinical hypnotherapist I will speak directly to your subconscious mind, blurring out the old negative thought patterns and rerouting the positive messages that you would like in place.

A common cause of poor eating habits is anxiety or stress.
Hypnosis is a wonderful and safe way to release stress and anxiety in a controlled environment.

Q. Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
A. Even in deep hypnosis you will be aware of your environment at all times. You will be able to open your eyes, speak and even stand up. You cannot be stuck in hypnosis.
